Thomas Moran

1837-1926

Thomas Moran (1837-1926) was an American painter and printmaker known for his landscapes and seascapes. Born in Birmingham, England, Moran immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 12 and grew up in Pennsylvania.

He studied art in Philadelphia and later moved to New York City, where he became a prominent figure in the American art scene.

Moran's work is characterized by its use of light and color, and he is considered one of the most important American landscape painters of his time.
